The Pill is  the most commonly used contraceptive. Taken daily the pill contains hormones that prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of eggs, thickening the mucus at the cervix to prevent sperm from reaching the uterus and thins the lining of the uterus to prevent fertilized eggs from attaching.
